Bob Livingston ist einer jener Musiker, die in den 70er-Jahren am Ursprung der Outlaws-Bewegung in Austin standen. Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver und Jerry Jeff Walker führten die damalige Musikrevolution an. Bob Livingston war während vieler Jahre Mitglied der legendären Lost Gonzo Band. Diese zählte in den 70er- Jahren zu den absoluten Top-Live Bands in den USA. Bob Livingston und weitere "Lost Gonzos" begleiteten neben Jerry Jeff Walker auch Michael Martin Murphey, Ray Wylie Hubbard und andere.

Seit vielen Jahren tourt der nimmermüde Bob weltweit und regelmässig als Musikbotschafter im Auftrage des US State Department. So brachte er die texanische Musik in Länder wie Indien, Pakistan, Jemen, Thailand oder Vietnam. Seine Lieder erzählen folglich von seinen Erlebnissen auch in den von ihm bereisten Ländern und den Erfahrungen mit Menschen anderer Kulturen. Seine CD "Mahatma Gandhi and Sitting Bull" verbindet die Musikstile von Ost und West auf eindrückliche Weise und wurde zu Recht bei seinem Erscheinen im Jahre 2004 als eines der Top-Alben eingestuft. Bob Livingston wird auf seiner Tournee begleitet von Bradley Kopp (der u.a. mit Bob Dylan, Little Feat, Boz Scaggs oder den einzelnen Flatlanders aufgetreten ist) sowie von Richard Bowden (der jahrelang an der Seite von Linda Ronstadt, der Country-Rock Königin der 70er-Jahre, mit Don Henley von den Eagles und mit Roger McQuinn gespielt hat).

Bob, as I am sure you know, is best known as a member of the Lost Gonzo Band and for playing over the years with an assortment of colorful Texas characters including Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey, Ray Wylie Hubbard and many others. Bob's CD, Mahatma Gandhi and Sitting Bull, was voted one of the year's 10 best CDs by the Austin American-Statesman when it was released in 2004. Bob toured last year around a compilation CD, Original Spirit, and is currently working on material for a new CD that will come out later this year. Bob has been introducing this new music at his shows lately and it has been received very well. I am excited about the new CD!

Bob has toured the world for many years as a Musical Ambassador for the US State Department and has taken Texas music as far afield as India, Pakistan, Yemen, Vietnam and Thailand. He is a Texas musician who has definitely taken the road less traveled and has many interesting stories to recount and songs that have grown out of these experiences. Bob puts on a wonderful show and the audience is always enthralled with the music and his telling of the history behind it. Bob was in Austin when the 'scene' started and has many interesting stories about how songs that have become essentially, Texas anthems, were written.
